The latest
Hello All!
We are glad to see that we are reaching the globe and especially those of you in Indonesia. I just thought I would give you a quick update on the band. We have not been able to complete the songs we have been working on as our dear friend Kenny's house has been struck with the flu. Please pray for a speedy recovery for him and his family. Byron, Jeff, and I have been coming up with some sweet jams during practice and hope to develop some of those soon. We currently are advertising for a lead guitar player so please be in prayer that The Lord will send us a good fit for the band. I love the lead but feel someone else could do it better and we need it when we look to play live. We'll keep you updated and thanks for being a fan. We hope you're digging our style.
Christ's Peace,
-Jason

Piles of Sand
Okay, Jason and Jeff finally got me to get off my lazy butt and get my part recorded for "Piles of Sand". After a couple hours of tweaking my bass sound (then proceeding to break my first bass string ever), I was able to lay down some tracks. It shouldn't be long now till we can get this song posted up on the site. I really like what it's starting to sound like. Like most of our tunes, they all seem to evolve once we get to recording them. Well, that's all from me for now. Holding down the low end of the faith -Byron

Lincoln Brewster

Last night Jeff and I decided, at the last minute, to go see Lincoln Brewster. The concert and his testimony was awesome! If he is ever in your area we would highly recommend that you go see him. We had the opportunity to meet him for a moment last night. Thanks Lincoln! The band is still working on finishing up "Piles Of Sand" and we will release it on the web site as soon as it is done.

R word blog
Have you heard about the "r word" campaign being promoted by the Special Olympics? They're raising awareness about misusing the word "retarded" in everyday conversations. This movement couldn't have come quick enough for me! I cringe when I hear someone misuse that word. Somehow substituting the word "retard" or "retarded" to describe some negative connotation has become commonplace. Retardation is simply a mental disability. It's not a condition of choice or control. Retarded persons have no more asked for their disabilities than someone who suffers from blindness, deafness, terminal cancer or being confined to a wheelchair etc. But we don't hear statements like "that’s crippled" or "he's so cancerous". Yet to say "that's retarded" to convey that someone or something was unfair, inconsiderate or mean etc. has become the social norm.
There are those who hold the position that this issue is trivial, but those who have never experienced having a loved one with a mental disability would find it offensive and disrespectful if they had experienced it personally. Misusing the "r" word, much like misusing the "n" word to describe anyone of an African decent, reflects poorly on a person's character and is an unintelligent form of communication. I'm asking everyone who reads this to join me, in honor of my late son Justin who was diagnosed with profound retardation, to log onto www.r-word.org and pledge their support. It's free.
Thank you in advance and God bless you.
Your brother in Christ Jeff Vann
